EPCCF

Whew! What a weekend! Just got hone from the East Perry County Community Fair, you know the "Best Little Fair in the Land"... also known as the Altenburg Fair :-) You just gotta love 20,000 people converging on a town of 350 to drink lots of beer, watch mules jump and eat great food! Didn't get to see the parade this year - had to work (boo! hiss!), but went Fri. night and most of Saturday. Spent most of the evening watching the 4x4 truck pull - who knew I would LOVE watching big, loud trucks pulling!!! It was so cool! I know, I'm a dork...oh well! Now I'm going to lay in bed and listen the the bazzillion cars drive by on their way out of our quite little spot on the map. C-Ya!

Just because I can...

I have been wanting to create an art journal for a while now...I like the idea of having somewhere to just play. No rules, no time limits, just playing because I can. Ali Edwards had a link on her blog yesterday to a journal created by one of the 2Peas garden girls - Emily Falconbridge. Here's a link to it: http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/cg_main.asp?cmd=display&seed_id=24905&f=n This is one of the coolest ideas I have seen in quite some time - so of course I had to try it! I worked on this all afternoon today. I took an old hardback book apart to make the cover, and then just started grabbing stuff to make the inside pages... scrap paper, cards, transparencies, journaling cards, paper bags, even an old phone bill :-) I sewed the pages together in sections, and then hand-sewed them onto the book cover. I had a blast making this! It was so much fun to just play - creating something just to be creating it. I plan on playing in this little book whenever I feel like it - trying new things or just slapping crap on a page - whatever trips my trigger at the moment! If you want more info on making a book like this, check out Emily's instructions (the link above) or email me.

More pics of Small Town Girls Retreat projects

Here's a bunch of pics of all the great projects we have coming up at the Small Town Girls retreat (Sept. 8th). If you want to sign up, please call the store. We will do kits for anyone who can't be there. Pick and choose your favorites or get them all...LOL! Almost all of the page kits are two-page layouts, I just snapped a quick pic of the first page...sorry the colors are kinda wonky also. Looing forward to this so much! Gonna be a blast!

Small Town Girls class pic

Here's a peek at the acrylic book class I will be teaching at the Small Town Girls retreat. This is the front cover and first page (front is clear). We will be using Basic Grey "Recess" paper and letter stickers, as well as some goodies from 7 Gypsies. You can use this little book for pics of your kids, grandkids, or even youself (no cracks about my 80's big hair :-) hehehehe!) The first 4 pages of the book are at the store and I will be finishing the last 4 this weekend. The class is $20 & I will be at the retreat to help you finish it since we probably won't get done during the class. I am going to post some more pics of my kits and the other class & kit projects that are available later this afternoon, since Cynde bailed and went camping :-P If you want to sign up for anything, email me or call the store (204-7662). You can order kits for any of the projects, even if you can't be there that day!
