So cute they made me sick....

A few days ago, Chris came flying in the house hollerin' "Where's your camera?" He grabbed it and ran back outside - I'm used to finding strange pictures of weird (and sometimes scary) things on my memory card so I didn't think much about it at the time. Later, when he came in he showed me this picture:
It seems he spotted this little sweetie hangin' in our backyard. Super-cute, isn't she?
Ok, now fast forward to this evening...Chris is gone to my Grandma's for the week, so it's just me and Nick. I decide to finish mowing as soon as I got home - neither of us was ready for super, so why not? All I had to do was the back yard, since Chris got the rest done yesterday. I round up my mowin' shoes, Pepsi hat and sunglasses (yes, I know I'm a dork) and get busy. About three times around the backyard...and everything went very, very bad...I was walking along the hillside, lost in my own little delusional daydreams (as usual) when I see something go running off to my left...huh? That's weird...then something runs off to the right...ok, now I know something is not right...then there's the noise and the....well, the bits. It was at this moment that I realized there was a hole right behind me...ewwwwww! Yep, that little sweetie was a Momma sweetie and now she was one baby short...I almost threw up right there. Of course, then I had to round up what was left of her little family, cause I just couldn't let them go...I'm such a sucker for baby bunnies (long story...). I found these guys:
And then called my Grandma....practically in tears! What do I do? I asked, knowing the answer...put them back, clean up the "bits" and hope Momma sweetie comes back. You can't keep them, wild rabbits don't make it as pets (I know this...she knows I know this...again long story). If she doesn't come back, well then...you know...ack! So I snapped a picture (of course) shoved them back in the hole, parked the mower and came inside. I know I should go check to see if they are still there...but I can't...
I don't think I'll mow anymore.......
More later...

How sad. I too would have been sick. Great pictures! Good thing momma bunny didn't come after you when you picked her little ones up. :)

Sorry Mama bunny. We have a nest of Horned Owls behind our house and you should see the bits of bunnies they leave. EWWW but the mower... that's tops. I've never been able to save a baby bunny... but the mama should come back.
